Obituary for Anthony Insalaco

Anthony Insalaco
Insalaco, Anthony, 89 of Linwood, passed away peacefully on December 30, 2011. He was surrounded by his family as he passed on to be with the Lord.

Born in NYC to immigrant parents, he fought in World War II, first in the Army's Division of Anti-tank, later volunteering for the Office of Strategic Services where he was a paratrooper fighting behind enemy lines as an espionage agent.

After serving in the Army, he worked for a pharmaceutical company, H.B. Cohen in NYC for more than 30 years, moving on to a different pharmaceutical company, Kinray, when H.B. Cohen closed. He remained at Kinray until his retirement.

During his life, he was heavily involved in volunteer work for several churches: St. Sebastian's R.C. Church in NYC where he was a trustee and usher. After moving to Jackson Heights, NY, he was involved with volunteer work at St. Joan of Arc and Blessed Sacrament Church, helping out with the Teen Club program and as an usher. Additionally, he was a volunteer for Catholic Charities, where he went on to meet his loving wife, Carmela. He served as president of the Jackson Heights Chapter of the AARP.

After his retirement, he moved to Linwood to be closer to his daughter and grandchildren. His retirement was filled with playing cards and visiting the casinos, where he loved the slot machines.

He is predeceased by his parents, Angelo and Mary Insalaco; and his brothers, Ignazio and Charles Insalaco. He leaves behind his loving wife of 60 years, Carmela (nee Romeo); daughter Lisa Parise (nee Insalaco); son-in-law Marc Parise; grandchildren Christopher and Kelly Parise; as well as several nephews, nieces, grand-nephews and grand-nieces.

A viewing will be held at Our Lady of Sorrows Roman Catholic Church, 724 Maple Avenue, Linwood, on Friday, January 6, 2012 at 9:30am, with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at 11:00am. Burial immediately following Mass at the Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Anthony's memory to Holy Redeemer Home Care and Hospice, 6550 Delilah Road, Egg Harbor Township, NJ 08234, to the attention of Gloria Adomaitis.
