Obituary for John C. Powers

John C.  Powers
John C Powers passed away peacefully on July 29, 2017 at the age of 90. He was born on October 28, 1926 in Atlantic City, NJ. John is a graduate of Holy Spirit High School and served proudly in US Navy during World War II, in the Pacific Theatre.

John was married in 1950 to the late Doris Marie Quill and had five children, Diane, Michael, Joseph, David and Stephen. He is also survived by his 11 grandchildren, Ryan, Timothy, Jason, Diana, Kristina, Jessica, Hannah, Brittney, Leah Jacklyn and Sean; and 11 great-grandchildren. Jack is also survived by his siblings, Arthur Michael, Marguerite, Ellen and Mary and a large extended family. In addition to his beloved wife, Doris he was also predeceased by his sister Dolly Mooney.

John “Jack” worked for Wonder Bread Hostess cake for 38 years in multiple managerial positions and was known as the "World’s Greatest Bread Man.” Jack Powers touched many lives and will be fondly remembered by all that he encountered in his incredible life and his greatest joy was his family. Jack’s favorite saying to all he loved was “And You Know I Just Love You”.

Visitation will be at Adams Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road Northfield, NJ 08225 on Friday August 11, 2017 from 5 pm-8 pm. A Mass of Christian Burial will be at 10 am, on August 12, 2017 at St Gianna Beretta Molla Parish, 1421 New Rd, in Northfield. Burial to follow at Atlantic City Cemetery in Pleasantville. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association.
