Obituary for Gloria C. Irwin (Curcio)

Gloria C. Irwin (Curcio)
Irwin, Gloria Curcio, 66 of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully at home on July 8, 2012 with her family by her side.

She was born on June 23, 1946 in Pittsburgh, PA. Her early childhood was spent in Aberdeen, MD. From there she moved to Northfield. She graduated with honors from Mainland Regional High School and Goldey Beacom School of Business in 1964 and 1965 respectively. Later, in 1985, she graduated from Thomas Edison State College, completing her Bachelor's Degree.

She began a home-based typing service in the early 1970's, which later developed into GCI Transcription Services, and also Certified Transcription Services, which provided transcription of sound recorded local, state and federal court trials and hearings, planning and zoning board hearings, and police department and investigator sound recorded interviews until she had to close both businesses in January 2012 due to her illness.

Predeceased by her parents, Michael and Marie (nee Gronkoski) Curcio, of Absecon; and her sister, Linda Shelton (Carl) of Baltimore, MD.

Survived by her devoted and caring husband of 44 years, Robert G. Irwin, Sr.; son Robert G. Irwin, Jr. and daughter-in-law Elizabeth, and their children, Emilie and Robert III; son Michael L. Irwin, and his daughter, Rebecca; as well as aunts, uncles, cousins, and many friends, particularly Jane and Larry Palmisano, formerly of Northfield, and the remaining two "Must-Be-Heres", Cheryl Bryson and Donna Fortis of Linwood.

Gloria enjoyed in life most of all holding her newborn grandchildren, and appreciated being part of their everyday lives through holidays, birthdays, trips, school events, recitals, sports events, and just being together. She also enjoyed traveling to many places in the U.S. and Europe with her husband, and granddaughter, Rebecca; reading, collecting pre-1900 published books, quilting and sewing, and taking classes in literature and writing.

She was greatly loved and will be dearly missed by all.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Thursday, July 12, 2012 at 11:30am at St. Gianna Beretta Molla Parish/Church of St. Bernadette, 1421 New Road, Northfield. Visitation will be held from 9:30am until the time of Mass. Entombment will be held at Holy Cross Cemetery, Mays Landing.
