Obituary for Charles L. Nale Sr.

Charles L.  Nale Sr.
Nale Sr., Charles Lee, 85, of Galloway Township, New Jersey, passed away peacefully in his sleep on July 31, 2016 surrounded by his loving family. Raised in Reedsville, Pennsylvania, the son of Clarence R. Nale and Anna E. Bodtorf. He was a U.S. Navy Veteran of the Korean War era having served on board the USS Wright (CVL-49). Mr. Nale retired from Getty Oil Company in 1984 as Wholesale Fuels Manager for the East Coast. He achieved many accolades during his career, including manager of the year. Charles’ first love was his family.

He is survived by his loving wife of 65 years, Jerrie, his six children Charles Jr., Joel, Mark, Charlis, Dan and Kim, 19 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren. Mr. Nale is also survived by his brothers and sisters, Louise May, Clarence Nale, Hazel Madden, Frances Krick, and Mary Hawk.

Charles enjoyed the outdoors, cutting wood and returned to Reedsville each year to fish in the mountains of Central Pennsylvania. “Pop” Nale will always be remembered for his famous barbequed chicken, uplifting sense of humor and artful story telling.

A viewing will be held from 2:00pm to 3:00pm, on Thursday, August 4, 2016, at St. Paul’s Methodist Church, 118 Main Street, Port Republic, NJ 08241. The service will take place at 3:00pm. Burial will follow at the adjacent Port Republic Cemetery with a reception immediately following.
