Obituary for Victor Francesco

Victor Francesco
FRANCESCO, VICTOR “VIC,” - 100, a resident of West Atlantic City for 67 years, passed away peacefully surrounded by family at home Thursday, December 14, 2017. Born in Atlantic City as the youngest of eight, he attended Atlantic City Trade School and in 1942 began active duty in the United States Military, as a radar operator, on the island of Aitutaki, one of the Cook Islands in the South Pacific. He received honorable discharge from the military in 1945, and went on to own and operate two well known eateries: “Frisco’s Sub Shop,” on Main Street in Pleasantville, a crowd-pleaser in the early 1950s, and later “The Drums,” a popular restaurant in West Atlantic City which also served as a local hangout for all ages until 1968. Many may remember Vic for his 35 year tenure as the most entertaining character behind the bar at Oyster Creek Inn in Leeds Point. Known for his humorous antics, fun conversation, and tasty drinks that were more often than not served with a warm (and sometimes playfully mischievous) smile. The stories from his time at Oyster Creek are those of legends among his closest friends and family members. He was notoriously generous, kind, quick with a quip that could always lighten the mood, and would serve a meal to anyone that would let him. He loved sitting outside in the sun, chatting with his closest and oldest friend Russ Hutchinson, and always looked forward to visiting his great-granddaughter Vanessa at The Gilchrist Restaurant in Margate. He celebrated his birthday as a centenarian in April of this year that was joyfully attended by friends and family spanning over six decades. He is survived by his children, Rick, (Barbara) Lisa, (Mike) and Bryan, (Victoria), six grandchildren, Victor, Chrissy, Michael, Anthony, Ricky and Ashley and nine great-grandchildren.

A visitation will be from 10 am to 11:30 am, on Wednesday, December 20, 2017, at Our Lady of Sorrows Church, 724 Maple Ave in Linwood. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11:30 am. Vic’s final resting place will be at Holy Cross Cemetery in Mays Landing. Arrangements entrusted to and condolences for the family may be left at Adams-Perfect.com
