Obituary for Lysbeth Ferriola

Lysbeth Ferriola
FERRIOLA, LYSBETH M., 89 of Egg Harbor Township, passed away peacefully on February 1, 2017. Lysbeth was born and raised in Bournemouth, England. During World War II, her family moved to Abergavenny, Wales, where she met her future husband U.S. Army Technician Vincent Ferriola in 1944. She moved to Fair Lawn, Bergen County, NJ in 1948 to marry him, but then returned with him to Abergavenny in 1949 and gave birth to their son Michael. In 1954 the family returned to Fair Lawn, and moved to the Radburn section of Fair Lawn in 1955 where she remained for 25 years. She worked as a veterinary assistant and dog groomer, and for 18 years established and owned a successful dog grooming shop in Haledon, Passaic County named “Hairy Hounds”. She sold the business in 1980, and moved with her husband to Eldora in Dennis Township, Cape May County, where she continued working with animals until she retired. After the death of her husband in 1995, she eventually moved to Egg Harbor Twp. in 2008 to be closer to her family.

Lysbeth had many great passions in her life. She was an avid horseback rider from a young age in England to well into her 60’s. In Radburn she was an enthusiastic tennis player and enjoyed being part of the Radburn Players, a theater group. Her biggest thrill was the hundreds of animals she has owned, rescued, and helped over the years, especially when she had her Eldora "farm" and numerous horses, dogs, cats, chickens, ducks, Guinea hens, koi, and even a cow. She was also a very good cook, and loved to produce large meals for her family.

Lysbeth was predeceased by her parents Harold and Madeline Arscott, and her brother Bernard Arscott, all of England, and by her husband Vincent Ferriola of Eldora.

She is survived by her son, Michael (Lorraine) Ferriola, two grandchildren James (Sandra) Ferriola and Kathryn Sciullo, and three great-grandchildren Domenic Sciullo, Lauren Sciullo, and Lily Ferriola, all of Egg Harbor Twp.

Relatives and friends are invited to remember and celebrate Lysbeth’s life with a visitation to be held on Saturday February 11th, at 10:00 a.m. and a memorial service to follow at 11:00 a.m., at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield, NJ.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in memory of Lysbeth Ferriola to the Humane Society of Atlantic County via website http://humanesocietyac.org/donate/.
