Obituary for Philip Aloysius Ryan Jr.

Philip Aloysius Ryan, Jr.

Phil is survived by his beloved wife, Beth (Cantarella), his adoring children Aileen and Sean and his
brothers, Timothy, his friend Marly and her daughter Hanna and Christopher. In addition, Phil leaves
brother in law Chris Cantarella, his wife, Diane and his niece Cara and nephew Christopher and his
mother in law, Judi Cantarella.

Margarita-Phil loved the Giants, the Devils, the Philadelphia Soul, Bruce, and loud Irish music, much to
the dismay of his neighbors. He was the owner of GGW, former winner of the QSFL cup. He was reigning
Winterberry Beer Pong champion. While he didn’t dance with the Ensemble Arts Parent Elite Team, he
did provide star worthy encouragement. His enthusiasm for Saint Patrick’s Day, Halloween and the
Christmas Story were legendary.

Phil had a lifelong passion for the game of soccer. He played for the Thistle Football Club in Kearny. He
was goalie for Saint Peter’s Preparatory School in Jersey City and played in college for NJIT. He coached
the North Arlington Strikers. He was a board member of the Egg Harbor Township Soccer Club and coach
of the U11 Traveling Eagles. He was a beloved member of South Jersey soccer community as an USSF
official. We are sure his emails will be greatly missed by all.

He attended NJIT and Rutgers and was a member of Sigma Pi Fraternity. He graduated from University of
Phoenix with a degree in Business. Phil was employed by the Seaman Corporation as a Direct Sales
Representative.

He will be greatly missed by his cousins, aunts, uncles, friends, neighbors, and coworkers.
Phil is preceded in death by his parents, Maureen and Philip, his grandparents, Anna Mae and Lawrence
Ronan and Clare Scott and Aloysius Ryan.

“I’m not just here to coach soccer, I’m here to teach the love of the game.”
