Obituary for John Joseph Mehic III

John Joseph Mehic was called home to be with Jesus, on November 1, 2017, after a short but serious illness. John was born on January 2, 1952, in Johnstown, PA to Clara Ruth and John Mehic. He resided in Egg Harbor Twp for the last 38 years, with his wife of 45 years, Pat.

John was an Atlantic City Police Officer for 29 years. He was always proud of his job and did it with excellence. He worked with quite a few wonderful men and women. John graduated from Atlantic City High School and Atlantic Cape Community College.

He loved his church, Fresh Start, where he served for 16 years, and had many friends there. It was a very important part of his life. John was a deer hunter and a firearms instructor. He loved to golf with some of his closest friends. He said he wasn't good, but it was fun, even when he got mad and threw his club up into a tree and had to pay someone to get it down.

John was a wonderful husband, father, and pop pop. He taught his grandson, Jordan to fish and also to shoot. He wanted him to be a hunter some day. He always went to Jordan's football and baseball games. He went to games to watch his granddaughter, Ciarra cheer and he was so impressed with what she could do. John was so proud of his kids and grandchildren.

The most important thing he wanted everyone to know was that he loved his Lord and his family more than anything in this world.

He was predeceased by his mother Clara and brother, William. John is survived by his wife Pat; son TJ Mehic; daughter, Christina Mehic Nunez; his sister, Beverly Dempsey; his grandchildren, Ciarra and Jordan; sister in-law Janice (Ron) Snowman; and many nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews. He was blessed with several good friends, Jeff, John, Rich, and Nick. They all helped him in his battle with cancer. The family would like to thank Ciarra and Jordan's dad, Junior Nunez for help as well.

A celebration of John's life will be held at 11 am, on Saturday, November 11, 2017, at Fresh Start Church, 1049 Ocean Heights Ave, Egg Harbor Twp, NJ 08234. A gathering of family and friends will be from 9:30 am until the start of the service.
