He eventually finished out his career at Egg Harbor Township as Supervisor of the English Department before retiring in 2011. Upon retirement, Hal reentered the world of acting, performing in a number of TV and film productions.

Hal will be remembered for his sarcastic wit and love of irony, classic cars, fine wine, the best scotch, and spending quality time with friends and his loving wife of 21+ years, Laureen.

Hal is predeceased by his parents Rose (Katz) and Morris Cohen of Philadelphia. Hal is survived by his wife, Laureen (Jordan) Cohen, a brother, aunts, uncles, nieces, cousins, and friends, as well as a generation of Egg Harbor Township students who graduated with a finer appreciation of writing, literature, journalism and the arts.
