Porter, Karen R., of Mays Landing passed away suddenly on February 25, 2010 after a long illness.
She was born in Atlantic City and raised in AC and Linwood. She graduated from Mainland Regional High School and Stockton State College. She worked many years in the family business, Norwood Liquor Store. She took pleasure writing poetry and wrote hundreds of poems.
Karen loved all animals and they have lost a good friend. She especially loved her dogs and cats. Karen was a professional dog trainer and was a longtime member of Seashore Dog Training Club and recently South Jersey Working Dog Club. She was involved in therapy dogs for many years. She was a longtime member of HSUS, ASPCA, Alley Cat Allies, and Best Friends Animal Society.
She is survived by her parents, Howard and Alix Porter of Linwood; and Richard De Cicco of Mays Landing.
Services will be private. If desired, a donation may be made in Karen’s name to an animal group of your choice.
