Gerald William  Ueckermann
UECKERMANN, GERALD WILLIAM “BILL” 92 - of Egg Harbor Township, passed peacefully to eternal life on Monday September 13, 2010. Bill was born in Atlantic City on October 27, 1917 to Frederick and Hilda (Magnusson) Ueckermann and was a local resident all of his life.
Raised in the Venice Park section of Atlantic City, Bill graduated from Atlantic City High School in 1935. He was proud member of Plumber’s Local Union 121 (now 322), beginning his apprenticeship in 1936, rising through its ranks to business manager and retiring in 1982. During World War II he served in Europe in the 3rd Army, in the 599th Anti-Aircraft Artillery Automatic Weapons Battalion. He was awarded the Bronze Star and Purple Heart, and also received the Croix de Guerre from France. Bill was a member of the Pleasantville Presbyterian Church for over 50 years, where he served as an elder. He was also a member of Charles H. Mann Lodge, F.&A.M., and was a 32nd degree mason.
Bill was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and son. He was happiest being with family, boating or whittling. He was a kind and honest man with a great sense of humor who was much loved in life and now a memory.
Bill was predeceased by his loving wife, Eileen (nee Stephenson) in 2002. He is also predeceased by his brother Frederick. He is survived by his children Nancy (Bill) Gosner, Gerald (Donna) Ueckermann, and Janice (Dave) Anderson, his grandchildren Dana (Chase) Luff, Jennifer (Thomas) Rocco, Laura Anderson, William Ueckermann, Sarah Gosner, and Matthew Ueckermann. He is also survived by his great grandson, Carter Luff , and cousin Eleanor Peterson.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, Sept. 18, 2010 at 10:00 AM at the Adams-Perfect Funeral Home 1650 New Road Northfield, NJ 08225. A visitation will be held Friday Evening from 7 until 9 PM at the funeral home. Interment will be held at the Greenwood Cemetery in Pleasantville, NJ
The family would like to extend their sincere appreciation to staff of Linwood Care Center and Holy Redeemer Hospice. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in his memory to Holy Redeemer Hospice, 6550 Delilah Rd # 501 Egg Harbor Twp, NJ 08234 or Pleasantville Presbyterian Church.
