Remembering Ray~Ray

Remembering a man whose life was well lived. Although now he is in a better place, resting peacefully, we shall hold dear in our hearts the boundless memories and the legacy this man has left behind. We will miss him dearly. Who was Ray Castilean? Was he a brother, a father, a Grand father, a husband, a friend? Through the years, I was asked this question a lot. How do I explain what is in my heart? Ray Castilean was all of these and so much more to us. He was our brother, our father, our uncle, our grandfather, but most of all Ray was our dear friend. Although Ray was an only child and had no children of his own, in a very real and endearing way, we were all Rays children. Those who knew him, loved him. Those whom he loved , he adored. Ray showed his love through his actions not just his words. Make no mistake about it, Ray had a natural ability to make those he cared about always feel very special. Ray had a heart of gold, a gentle soul, and a very strong will. He was a faithful to God and to everyone he knew. Ray was also a realistic optimist. As William Arthur Ward quoted, The pessimist complains about the wind; the optimist expects it to change; the realists adjusts the sails. The mediocre teacher tells, the good teacher explains. Ray was a teacher of all that was good. He was patient and he was kind. Ray stayed true to the changing of times while remaining young at heart. He had a creative flair for his appreciation of the arts, as only we would understand. Ray had a great sense of humor and he shared many funny and intriguing stories of his life with us. His sense of responsibility, his integrity and his good character were qualities we admired. Ray was consistent and true to his loved ones. He was grateful, humble and best of all, he was present. Having Ray as a constant part of our lives meant that we not only had a best buddy, we had a man who was just like a husband, just like a father, just like a brother, and just like an uncle. Ray was our rock. Having Ray in our lives meant having a true best friend and a loyal confidant that never faltered; one that we appreciated and respected. A man that was loved. A man we will miss, and forever hold dead in our hearts. May you Rest In Paradise Ray~Ray...Thank you for being a part of our lives. Dawn Marie Mecca & Family
