BETTY AND MOTHER, ESTELLE HACKNEY CARMEN-SOMERS, WERE COUSINS. HER GRANDFATHER LEN CARMEN WAS A BROTHER TO MOM'S GRANDMOTHER ARWILDA CARMEN SOMERS KNOWN AS AUNT WILDY. BETTY AND ESTELLE STAYED BEST FRIENDS TO THE END. SHE CAME TO OUR HOUSE TO FIX HAIR AND LIPSTICK BEFORE MEETING MURPH AT NAVY AIR BASE AT DANCE. MURPH PICKED HER UP ON HIS MOTORCYCLE AT OUR HOUSE. HE AND DAD WERE BEST FRIENDS FOR YEARS. THEIR FIRST HOME WAS A TRAILER BETWEEN OUR HOUSE AND AUNT WILDY ON CHURCH ST. IN MOM'S OLD ALBUM IS A PIC OF BETTY WITH PIGTAILS PUSHING PUD IN COACH. SHE AND MOM TALKED ON THE PHONE A LOT AND VISITED OFTEN. MANY OF US WERE FRIENDS WITH THE CARMEN SIBLINGS. MY BROTHER BOB TOLD ME THAT "AUNT BETTY" HAD PASSED AWAY. BETTY, AKA :BECKY, WAS A BIG PART IN MY LIFE INCLUDING BINGO. WE WERE THE JESSIE JAMES GANG. WHEN MY RECENT CHRISTMAS CARD WENT UNANSWERED I THOUGHT THE FAMILY WOULD LET ME KNOW IF ANYTHING WAS WRONG. LOVE TO HER ENTIRE FAMILY FROM THE HACKNEY FAMILY.
