Obituary for Woodruff John Kearns

Woodruff John  Kearns
Woodruff John Kearns USN 51, passed away suddenly from heart failure on 11-19-13 at his home in Chelsea, Mass. Born in Atlantic City on April 7, 1962, son of Frank "Jay" Kearns and the late Doris (Pendry) Cross.
He graduated from Absegami and Vo-Tech 1980 with a certificate in Welding. He was a Gunners Mate Guns in the Navy serving on the O'Callahan based in San Diego. He worked for the Dayton Heart Hospital as an electrician and was a paramedic in NJ for many years.
The proud father of Ryan Scott Kearns, a professional musician in Florida. He is further survived by his sister Debra Kearns and nephew Owen of Plover, Wisconsin, his brother, Andy (Gwen), nephews; Andrew Jr., Austen, Zachary, Nathan, and Spencer of Huddelston, VA.
Woody was predeceased by his Mother, Doris, Step mother, Robin (Harrison) Kearns, his grandparents Grace and Gene Collins, and Frank Sr. and Lydia Kearns.
A Christian, he will be remembered for his love of rock music and dark humor, and his love of dogs.
At his request, there will be no viewing or funeral. His ashes will be taken to sea by the Navy at a later date. There will be a memorial service held in EHT in the near future.
His request was that memorials be sent to the Atlantic City Rescue Mission, 2009 Bacharach Blvd. Atlantic City, NJ 08401.
