Obituary for George A Channell

George A  Channell
CHANNELL, GEORGE ALFRED 90 - of Galloway Township passed away on Sunday, December 1, 2013.

George was born on September 17, 1923 in Absecon to George A. Channell Sr. and Elizabeth (Popplewell) Channell. He was raised in Pleasantville where his father was captain of police. He proudly served in the United States Army Air Corp, 1943-1946. He then worked as an electrician until his retirement from IBEW Local 351 in 1985. George married his "doll," Betty L. Smith of Atlantic City in 1947. Together they raised two daughters, Elizabeth Linda Rhodes and Barbara Ann Channell. George enjoyed bowling and playing baseball on local leagues and was a devoted Philadelphia Phillies fan. The Channell family traveled to Clearwater, Florida to attend the Phillies training camp for many years.

Mr. Channell is predeceased by his mother and father; his sisters Virginia Engle, Betty Sharp, Alma Driscoll, Eleanor Jeacopello, and Hannah Edwards; his brothers Jack Channell and Bill Channell; and his youngest daughter Barbara Channell. He is survived by his wife of 66 years Betty L. Channell; daughter Elizabeth Linda Rhodes (James); granddaughters Jennifer Kaas (Ron) and Jessica Young (Jared); grandson James Rhodes Jr. (Shannon); great-grandchildren Alexandria Rowe, Ronald Kaas, George Kaas, James Rhodes III, and Lauren Rhodes; great-great granddaughter Olivia Rowe; and many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation will be held on Friday, December 6, 2013 from 10am until 11am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home 1650 New Road, Northfield. A Funeral services will be held 11:00am followed by interment at Laurel Memorial Park Cemetery.
