Hester, Ernest "Ernie", of Egg Harbor Township on October 4, 2014.

Ernie was born on October 4, 1932 in East Orange to John and Gail Hester. After high school, he enlisted in the US Air Force. His travels took him around the world. While serving in England, Ernie met his late wife, Teresa. They were married for 52 years before her transition in 2010.

Ernie was known for the devotion he had for his son, Daryl Hester, and his grandsons, Dakwon and Zahmad McKenzie.

After retiring from the Air Force, Ernie earned his real estate license and became a successful real estate agent in East Orange. Through the years he met two special friends, Gwen Bush and Gerald Stover, who would remain by his side until his transition.

Ernie is survived by his son, Daryl; his grandsons, Dakwon and Zahmad McKenzie; his nieces, Patricia Mognione, Melvina Davis, Natasha Gibson, and Diane Bujang; goddaughter Gwen Morgan Brown; and a host of other family and friends.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday, October 11, 2014 at 3:00pm at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A visitation will be held from 2:00pm until the time of the service. Interment will be held privately.
