Obituary for Catherine Headley
HEADLEY, CATHERINE E. (nee Herdman) - 69, of Egg Harbor Township passed away peacefully on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center.
Catherine was born on May 3, 1945 in Urbana, IL and was the daughter of the late Donald L. Herdman and Elizabeth F. (Smith) Herdman. She attended Glassboro State College, where she met her husband, Michael Headley. Catherine enjoyed crocheting and sharing her many creations with her loved ones. She was well known for her afghans and Christmas stockings. Catherine’s love of animals, especially cats, led her to volunteer for the Humane Society of Atlantic County and the Cat Adoption Center at Pet Smart.
Catherine was predeceased by her granddaughter Laura Catherine Wear, her brother Steven Herdman and her sister Deborah (Herdman) Wimple. She is survived by her loving husband of 49 years, Michael S. Headley; four sons – Michael B. Headley, Patrick Headley and his wife Michele, Christopher Headley and his wife Janice, Eric Headley and his wife Jeanine; two daughters - Kimberly Wear and her husband Samuel, and Amy Andrews and her husband Joseph; nine of the greatest grandchildren - Katelyn Jensen and her husband Anthony, Heather Andrews, Brianna Headley, Monica Headley, Bethany Headley, Abigail Headley, Nicole Headley, Matthew Wear and Jessica Andrews; and one perfect great-grandson Jaxon Jensen. Catherine is also survived by her brother Richard Herdman; her sister Marcia Graham (Robert), and her sister-in-law Patti Herdman.
Catherine’s family wishes to extend their gratitude to the AtlantiCare Regional Medical Center Nursing and Palliative Care staff for their support during her final hours of life, and to the staff and friends at the Galloway Nursing and Rehab Center.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, February 3rd at 11:00 am at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home, 1650 New Road, Northfield. A viewing will be held from 10:00 am until the time of the service.
In lieu of flowers, it was Catherine’s wish that everyone do something special with your families, to create memories for you to cherish for the rest of your lives.
