Obituary for Frances Elaine Swilkey

Frances Elaine Swilkey
Swilkey, Frances Elaine (nee Nolan) - age 92 of Somers Point, NJ passed away at Linwood Care in Linwood, NJ. Born and raised in Pleasantville, Elaine graduated from Pleasantville High School in 1940 and worked at the local Woolworth 5 & 10. In 1947 she married her life partner, Gene Swilkey Jr., and lived with him in Northfield until his passing in 1995. During this time Elaine was a homemaker devoting most of her time to raising their son, Gene III. She also was active in the Northfield Mothers’ League and served as Northfield’s librarian. She enjoyed sports. She was an avid Phillies and Eagles fan and took particular pleasure rooting for her son and his Mainland Regional H. S. teams. Once young Gene started high school, Elaine returned to the workforce and was employed by Woolco in Pleasantville.
After Gene Jr.’s passing, Elaine moved to Somers Point and renewed her connection with the Central United Methodist Church of Linwood where she actively volunteered for several years. In her later years, Elaine thoroughly enjoyed her church relationships, spending time with family, and socializing with her “lunch buddies.” She remained very active up until the last year and a half of her life.
Predeceased by her parents William and Grace Nolan, her brother Bill Nolan, she is survived by her son Gene, his wife Cecelia, her step-grandchildren Tom Caprioli, his wife Tara, Kristy Caprioli and Julie Caprioli and her great grandchildren Jon Midgette, and Trevor and Tyler Caprioli.
Honoring her wishes a graveside service will be held on Wednesday, August 26, 2015 at 11:30am at the Atlantic City Cemetery, New Road and Washington Avenue, Pleasantville, NJ. Funeral arrangements are being handled by Adams-Perfect Funeral Homes. The family would like to thank the staffs of Linwood Care and Adams-Perfect for their compassion and assistance.
