Obituary for Katherine Yvonne Searles

Katherine Yvonne Searles, born the six child of Mary Searles Hollis. She was born in the Bronx, New York on January 17, 1961.

Kathy was almost two years of age when she became hearing impaired. She was raised in Brooklyn & Queens, New York. Kathy graduated from Fanwood High School in White Planes, New York. She studied art after completing high school. Kathy was a visual artist and writer.

Her primary language was American Sign Language. She became one of the first hearing impaired active members of LifePoint Church in Pleasantville, N.J. Kathy knew and loved the Lord. She enjoyed Bible Study and praising the Lord through song.

Kathy had a wonderful gift of inspiring others to seek the Lord. Often thought communicate during her Sorenson phone-service (Telecommunication Device for the hearing impaired). Many of the interrupters was blessed from her conversations about the Lord, which was often. She always smiled at others while passing out LifePoint Church cards. She had a strong desire for others to know God! One day a deliver man came to her door and inquired about the church sign she had placed in the window. He asked about the location of the church and she was happy to take the time to invite him to the services. Kathy was a blessing, many enjoyed her smile and positivity.

She leaves to cherish in her divine memories her mother: Mary Searles Hollis.

She leaves to welcome her sweet memories to two sons and one daughter: Jacob Searles, Sylvia K. Vasquez, Enrique Vasquez.

Her five grandchildren “What A Blessing” Anthony Searles, Autumn Searles, Layla Vasquez, Kaylin Vasquez and Enrique Vasquez Jr. (Expected to arrive in February) & Daughter - In Law Juleha Vasquez

Kathy joins her father John and brother Gregory who preceded her transformation. She leaves to treasure memories of childhood dreams with her one brother and three sisters: Mary Kelly, Greta Gardner, Viletta Martin and Glen Searles and a host of nieces, nephews and cousins.

Katherine also leaves to cherish in her memories her loving church family and numerous close friends.
As-well-as her loving, sweet and unconditional seven year companion (dog) Cher.

A viewing will be from 2:00 pm to 3:00 pm, on Wednesday, January 27, 2015, at Adams-Perfect Funeral Home 1650 New Rd, Northfield, NJ 08225. A service will follow at 3:00 pm.
