My Cousin Esther

Esther Davis was my first cousin. The obituary left out a lot of information that I know she was proud of. Esther's maiden name was Schemm. She was the daughter of my uncle William "Bill" Schemm and his wife Edith Schemm, their youngest child. She was named after our grandmother, Esther Dooley Schemm. She had three siblings; WIlliam Schemm of Canada, George Schemm who died aboard the USS Kete in WWII and Edith Schemm Milchis who pre-deceased her. She had many cousins and nieces and nephews. When I was a baby, my mother almost died. Esther came and lived with us and took care of me for a month or so. My mother was always thankful for that and we always had a close relationship as a result.
