Obituary for Charles L. Finkelday

Charles L.  Finkelday
Charles L. Finkelday, 81, of Egg Harbor Township, NJ, passed away suddenly on May 9, 2016 at his home.

He is survived by his wife, who was the love of his life for 41 years, Mary I. Finkelday.

He was predeceased by his parents, Charles J. and Viola (Eastlack) Finkelday; and his brother John P. Finkelday.

He is survived by his sisters, Mary E. Stenson and Mildred E. Leonard; children, Charles H. Finkelday and Debra A. Webb (Bob); six grandchildren: Jennifer Afanador, Stephanie Webb, Angela Newman, Matthew, Andrew and Sarah; five great grandchildren: Kayla Webb, Anthony and Adriana Afanador, Anne and Nicholas Newman; along with his step-sons Joseph M. Poole and James D. Poole.

Charles enlisted in the Navy at the age of seventeen and served four years of active service during the Korean conflict. He continued to be active in the Navy reserves for 31 years until retiring in 1986. He worked for twenty plus years at Warren W. Steelman plumbing and heating and loved volunteering his time at the Food Pantry located at Epiphany Lutheran Church in Pleasantville.

Funeral service will be held on Monday, May 16, 2016 at 11:00 A.M with visitation from 10 to 11 A.M. Burial will be held in Atlantic County Veterans Cemetery, Estell Manor.

In lieu of flowers, the family has requested donations be made in memory of Charles Finkelday to a Ranch Hope, PO Box 325, Alloway, NJ 08001, or the Pleasantville Food Pantry at Epiphany Lutheran Church, 306 S. Franklin Blvd, Pleasantville, NJ 08232.
